JAPAN – Watashi wa bīru ga daisukidesu 私はビールが大好きです

Konichiwa!

Today I bring you two imports from the land of the rising sun.

Beer #1: Asahi Black

Brewery: Asahi, Japan

Asahi Black 5 abv Japan smooth dark lager soft chocolate malty notes refreshing light bitterness pedestrian 6 () 10.jpg

Impressions: This was a very smooth dark lager with mild, soft chocolate malt notes. Very refreshing for a darker beer, but almost too light in taste and body. Medium carbonation.

ABV: 5%

Score: 6.5 / 10 (Average)

Verdict: For a lager, this brings it’s maltiness to the table, but beside that it’s a fairly standard beer. No real stand out features, but it’s easy drinking and non-offensive.

Beer #2: Sapporo Premium Lager

Brewery: Sapporo, Japan

Sapporo - Japan - smooth Japanese lager refreshing light hops taste slight bitterness notes of vanilla - 4o7 abv - 7 () 10

Impressions: This is also a smooth, refreshing lager. Very light hops / cereal bitterness with a very faint hint of vanilla in the background. Medium to high carbonation.

ABV: 4.7%

Score: 6.5 / 10 (Average)

Verdict: This, like the beer above, brings nothing remarkable to the table. It’s light, refreshing, and taste of good quality. But it borders on the bland and mundane, hence the average score.
