Ball Stitcher IPA

Hello to everyone,

Today I bring you a pint from my local near work. Check out the Warwickshire Brewery (simple) website here http://www.warwickshirebeer.co.uk/

Beer: Rugby Ball Stitcher IPA

Brewery: Warwickshire, Cubbington, England

Ball Stitcher IPA - Warwickshire, England - very smooth ale nicely hopped fairly bitter slight malt flavour medium low carbonation - 5 abv - 6o75 () 10

Impressions: This was a very smooth ale. Nicely hopped, with a decent amount of bitterness. Slightly sweet malt notes hid in the background of the bitterness. Low carbonation, with a creamy head.

ABV: 5%

Score: 6.75 / 10 (Average to Good)

Verdict: A fairly nice ale here. I believe this is available in 2 cask strengths, 4.5% and 5% ABV. Luckily I had the higher strength version, as the beer had just about the right amount of kick. Any less and the flavour definitely would have suffered. Nothing outstanding here, but easy drinking, a nice bitterness, and a slight sweetness keeping it palatable.

Alexander Keith’s India Pale Ale

Today I bring you a lager from my homeland. Alexander Keith’s is one of the oldest breweries in North America, established in 1820. Today, they produce mainly lagers for Canadian and American consumption. Read up on them here http://keiths.ca

Apparently they’ve started brewing Cider (Hard Cider – to Canadians), which is something I’ll have to check out when I’m over next.

Beer: India Pale Ale (Nova Scotia style Pale Ale in the States)

Brewery: Alexander Keith’s, Labatt, AB InBev, Canada

Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale - Nova Scotia Canada - smooth Canadian lager creamy with a medium light bitter hops odd notes of olives medium carbonation - 5 abv - 6o5 () 10

Impressions: This is a  smooth Canadian IPA. A somewhat creamy somewhat bland body with a medium to light bitter hops. I found some odd notes of olives hidden in the background. Medium carbonation.

ABV: 5%

Score: 6.5 / 10 (Average)

Verdict: I found this to be a squarely average IPA. A nice amount of bitterness brings the fairly low body to a more enjoyable level. The odd olive background might appeal to some! As beer is somewhat expensive in Canada, I would probably look for an alternative.

BREW DOG – a post Punk apocalyptic mother fu*ker of a craft brewery

(^Their words) Today I bring you my first taste of the highly acclaimed Brew Dog Brewery. A brewery that attempts to set itself as far away from contemporary breweries. From producing the some of the highest ABV beers in the world (The End of History, 55%), to uniquely flavoured beers well outside the norm.

Beer #1: Punk IPA

Brewery: Brew Dog, Scotland

Ipa 5-6 abv very smooth floral earthy citrus medium bitter sweet peach apricot 8 () 10.jpg.jpg

Impressions: This India pale ale is very smooth with strong flavours abound. Strong floral, earthy notes blend with bitter citrus hops. An overall medium bitterness covers the soft, sweet peach / apricot notes. Medium carbonation.

ABV: 5.6%

Score: 8.25 / 10 (Excellent to Very Excellent)

Verdict: This is a very unique beer. Very complex with many layers of flavour. This may be off putting to some, however, as a beer to be sipped, not glugged, it’s a beer to truly appreciate. Slightly too floral for my tastes, but I can appreciate how all the flavours work together. Definitely worth a try.
